·     NEWS FROM LOWER BRULE: PASTORS RANDY & REBECCA JENSEN

Left, Heather Vinson, intern; middle, Alvita, who goes to our church; right, Suzanne, a short term worker from Bourbon, Missouri.

Our summer ministry HAS BEGUN & HAS BEEN IN FULL SWING!  The Florid team hosted a Mega Sports Camp VBS. We had 75 kids the first day and a total of 110 total kids throughout the week. Our main sports were soccer and basketball.   The following week, we will have a team from Massachusetts (all ladies) who will be putting on a girls day camp and a community women's outreach.   The week after that, we are expecting two teams, one from Missouri and the other from South Dakota.   During that week, we will be doing a community cleanup and BBQ.    Then in July, we will have a team for a second VBS and church building work.   In August, we will be doing a community relations thing for the Pow Wow.  We will be handing out bottled water and will have the Native Book of Hope on hand.

UPDATE ON ''MEGA SPORTS CAMP''

"Cool things have been happening here.   We had a Mega Sports Camp VBS last week, which was without a doubt the most successful children's outreach we have done here.   We had a total of 110 kids throughout the week.  Our highest daily attendance was 76!!!  Several children gave their hearts to the Lord.

Also, we are planning our building dedication for sometime in September.  The building is pretty much done now, with only finishing things like trim needing done.   We have a team doing the trim for the whole building in July. PICTURES ARE HERE! (click on picture for larger view then click ''back button'' to return to this page).

Nice TePee! These pics are from our Girls Only daycamp, which Chickie Taylor and her group from New England helped us to put on.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! These are all pictures from the "Christmas in July"  VBS that Calvary Assembly from Jeff City, MO helped us to put on.

On a different note.  These are pics of gang tagging.  Gangs have become a real issue in Lower Brule as the Piru Bloods and the Crips have moved in and started taking territory.  We have had three major gang related beatings recently.  Randy has been involved in the neighborhood watch, along with several men from the tribe.

There use to be a real problem with gangs in Oglala until the Rec Center was built!  Pray this ministry in Lower Brule will see the same changes take place there as we saw in Oglala!

Other things on the burner:

**We have just developed the three year master plan for our church....I'll email you a copy as soon as we put on the finishing touches.

**We have a young man interested in helping in our church.  He is coming on Sunday to check out Lower Brule.

**We are planning to have our building dedication in September.

**We have a summer intern, Heather Vinson.

**We are starting an AA and Al-Anon chapter at our church.

**We are going on our first church missions trip - to an outreach in Wagner in July.

**Well, there's probably more, but that's all for now!
